THE SNORKELING IN GOA

THE BEAUTIFUL BEACH IN GOA

It was clear morning; the sea breeze had a refreshing effect on us. Our guests had assembled on pier eagerly awaiting our boat. Joseph the captain was busy with the final touches on the gear. We were off to snorkel in blue waters off Goa for the entire day.

We cruised through the harbour with our twin engines on full throttle. Our guests excitedly worked their cameras on the picturesque seascape while we briefed them on snorkeling and fishing, demonstrating instructions and safety measures. It was a 45 minutes boat ride to the island. The clear waters reflected the blue sky while the sun warmed us up as we watched the shoals of fish swim by in the coral below. Conditions were perfect we could see the bottom, which was 10 feet below.

Refreshments were served and the fishing gear handed out. Some of our guests would be trying out this sport for the first time. Our boatmen were the first to catch a few snappers, which set the mood. Then it was everybody!! the fish kept biting and beginners luck had its way.

Soon we caught an array of fishes, it was hard to explain to our guests that we had to move on as the real agenda that was snorkeling.

Joseph our captain skillfully guided our boat to the beautiful beach, which the Island sported off. With the snorkeling gear donned our guests took to the crystal clear waters, of course under the watchful eyes of our boat crew. Soon most of our guests even the beginners got a hang of the snorkels n fins, some of them for the first time in their lives were able to see the secrets of the coral reefs and what is life all about under the blue sea. The corals in their different arrays of hues, the numerous colourful fish darting in all directions some of them hiding between the seaweeds, sea cucumbers and starfish dotted the sea floor.
The afternoon lunch and beverages were served along with a chicken and fish bar be que, which is the expertise of our captain Joseph. In the afternoon people could either rest in the cool shades of the coconut palms or explore the island and the mysterious Portuguese built lighthouse. After a couple of hours we were ready for a next round of snorkeling, which we did on a different island. On our way back to the main land we were fortunate to be escorted by a troop of dolphins. Our guest were thrilled and most of all educated on how beautiful and refreshing an outing with nature can be, that we should all make an effort in our own way to preserve the beautiful coral reefs for generations to enjoy.
